Bhatkal, May 8: The people are the district are shocked to learn that 12 people of Bhatkal origin have tested positive for Covid-19 in single day.

The people of the district were apprehensive after coronavirus infection was noticed in the 18-year-old girl of the taluk after 20 days. Now the confirmation of infection in 12 people has jolted the public.

Six people, family members of the infected young girl, six neighbours, one person of the next street, one person who lives near highway and four people of another street have reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.

Areas namely Madeena Colony, Usmainya Colony, Nawayath Colony, Tengungundi Cross, Hindu Colony, Kukti Nagar, Jali Cross and Azad Nagar are sealed down by officials.

The infected people include a five-month-old baby, a three year old boy, elderly men aged 83 and 60, elderly woman aged 75, a 38-year-old woman, a man aged 30 years and four young women aged 25, 22, 12 and 11 years.

It is said that the source of this infection is the First Neuro hospital located at Padil in Mangaluru city. Elder sister and brother-in-law of the infected young woman of Bhatkal had gone to Mangaluru on April 19 as their child was not well. They stayed in the house of a known person, got the child treated on April 20 and had returned back to Bhatkal. So the 18-year-old woman, who was in contact with them acquired the infection.

The young woman had gone to the government hospital on May 4 as she developed body pain and fever. Her throat culture was sent for test. Lab report confirmed that the young woman is infected with Covid-19. Later the throat culture samples of the family members of the infected young woman and more than 100 others were sent for testing. Now it is confirmed that 12 of them are having the infection.

In the wake of the confirmation of coronavirus to 12 people, Dinakar K Shetty, MLA of Kumata-Honnavar legislative constituency has written a letter to the DC of Uttara Kannada district urging the complete seal down of Bhatkal taluk.

The letter written by MLA Dinakar to DC says, "As coronavirus infection is confirmed in one person on May 6 and further 12 people on May 8, the people of my constituency of Honnavar are under panic. I request you to completely seal down Bhatkal taluk and close all the approaching borders that connect Bhatkal to Honnavar and increase testing. Only allow emergency vehicles that taken patients for treatment and goods vehicles supplying essentials."

India is critically, in the third phase, of Covid19 pandemic... Community transmission has been irrevocably confirmed, in many regions of our nation... The rising graph of infections n subsequent deaths, are extremely alarming... Can we control this plague ?? has it snowballed out of control ?? The infected did not cooperate, refused to be identified and sent on quarantine, rather they hid themselves in their strongholds, spreading it more widely then ever to newer areas... When confronted they became abusive and assaulted doctors, nurses and medical staff, with sticks, stones, knives !! This was the fatal turning point of spreading this carnage !!!!

When the lady of Bantwal died due to covid19 and she was linked to First Neuro hospital in padil., it was the duty of the concerned to get the details of alk the patients admitted in the hospital and kept under coronation. Outstation patients should also been under coronation and today the case of Bgatkal would not have gone to such an extent.

there are rumours that first neuro, has seen around 1500-2000 patients during the lockdown period. all these cases are NON_EMEGENCY cases, in spite of repeatedly telling all medical people to attend only emergency cases, he has just ignored orders from higher authorities. this could be true or untrue. if it's true the definitely we are sitting on a ticking time bomb. this man responsible should be behind bars. its crime to see him out loose.

This is what people of Kasargod also did. They come to Mangalore for better treatment. But that time Karnataka bloked the highway and 12 lives were lost. That time your MP's and MLA's all refused the patients entry to Mangalore. Now that same Kasargod district have only 1 positive case and whole Kerala has only 16 active cases as of now.The officials should have bloked the district border with utthara kannada rather than bloking innocent patients from Kasargod district. What goes around comes around...KARMA.

People need to understand. For a big country like India, No amount of lockdown is going to destroy the virus. It only slows down its spread. It gives time for the authorities to increase its health infrastructure, so that infected patients can be treated properly, when they come in increasing numbers. And numbers will slowly increase. No one is to be blamed for it. We have to do our part by social distancing.

The dirty politics and religious animosity have destroyed what ever we have tried to attain in last 2 months. All the efforts of Majority of Indian population who obeyed the order is spoiled by few for their own ulterior objective. Had we kept ourselves inside for first 45 days ( where as 95% of Indian population as well as business could have managed) we could have removed this virus from our land. Now no one can stay back anymore and the virus is not eradicated. Once the lock down is opened most of us will get contracted to this disease. The bigger problem is some experts say that, even if we survive the Corona infection our lungs will take beating and may not work to the full capacity as before. So, this infighting of ours is going to destroy the humanity as a whole.

There are people on 2 wheelers with 2 and sometimes 3 people on board without helmets plying in Mangalore.

And what is our dear MLA focusing on?
    1) Getting chinese companies to Mangalore (when from the last 15 years they have been promising an IT Park which never came up)
    2) Capturing a BISON and posing with it. What next? Contact Tracing of the BISON to identify its primary and secondary contacts?

So it Uttara Kannada ministers have to think, but they only know to spit venom twitter. India in following days must invest in health infrastructure, we need good science research labs, we need smart clinics.

Lockdown is just pause solution. This will not help us for long period. How long human can stay at home, our body is designed to outgoing and incoming.

Atleast now open mobile clinics every districts.

Our karnataka s reddy brothers is alone enough to create such clinics.

Bantwal persons got contacted in First Neuro, But you know whenever a minority community patient is admitted, Relatives friends, neighbors all flock to Hospital and make it a marriage hall. Unless the Hospital bars such persons, it is impossible to control infection. Some one from Arabia in that community is the source of infection for sure because the bantwal patient's abroad visitor did not show symptoms till date.
