Kaup, Feb 23: In preparation for the Pratishta Brahmakalashotsava scheduled from February 25 to March 5 at Kaup Hosa Marigudi temple, a grand ‘Dakshina Vahini Horekanike’ procession was held on February 22, showcasing devotion and discipline.
The Horekanike offerings arrived in hundreds of vehicles from various regions of Dakshina Kannada district, including Bantwal, Beltangady, Sullia, Puttur, Mangaluru North, Mangaluru South, Mangaluru, and Moodbidri. The offerings were formally received by the Sri Hosa Marigudi Temple Development Committee, the management committee, and the Brahmakalashotsava Committee, under the leadership of Horekanike Samarpana Committee chairman Dr Deviprasad Shetty.



























The procession began at National Highway 66 and made its way to Marigudi temple through Koppalangadi, K1 Junction, Kaup town, and Polipu mosque via the service road, culminating at Hosa Marigudi under the flyover. Despite the large turnout of vehicles, the disciplined procession was well-managed with the help of police officers and volunteers, ensuring smooth traffic flow. At the temple premises, breakfast was arranged for all participants.
The grand procession was further enhanced by the participation of hundreds of women carrying sacred Kalashas, along with traditionally dressed men, dignitaries, and various cultural troupes. The vibrant display included drum ensembles, band performances, traditional musical instruments, decorated floats, and folk performances like Thattiraya, Karaga, Keelu Kudure, and Mahisha Mardini tableaux. Special attractions such as the silver chariot, Bhajan groups, and the Vishwaroopa Darshana tableau added to the grandeur of the event.
The disciplined and colourful procession set the stage for the upcoming Brahmakalashotsava, reflecting the deep-rooted traditions and collective spirit of the devotees.
On this occasion, Manila Shridham Mohanadas Paramahamsa Swamiji, Bengaluru MRG Group CMD, Brahmakalashotsava Committee president Dr K Prakash Shetty, and Global Bunt Associations Federation president Aikala Harish Shetty inaugurated the procession. Subsequently, thousands of people walked on foot, accompanied by hundreds of vehicles in a grand procession, reaching the temple in a magnificent Shobha Yatra.
