Vijaya College Mulki Global Alumni Association annual get-together held in Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 23: "Vijaya College has played a crucial role in shaping our lives. Those who move to Mumbai after completing their studies face many challenges, but with perseverance, we grow in our respective fields. Education at Vijaya College has laid the foundation for our success in business, social service, and community involvement. We take immense pride in our alma mater, which has become a brand for quality education," said Karnire Vishwanath Shetty, vice president of the Federation of World Bunts Association and an alumnus of Vijaya College, who was the chief guest at the event.

The Vijaya College Mulki Global Alumni Association celebrated its annual get-together on Saturday evening at the Peninsula Grand Hotel Hall in Andheri East. Shetty acknowledged the significant contributions of Vasudeva Salian in bringing the association to its current stature and emphasized the importance of collective efforts for the college's growth.

The event was graced by VCMGAAM president Vasudeva M Salian, former president of Bunts Sangha Mumbai CA Shankar B Shetty, and college principal Venkatesh Bhatt. Also present on stage were VCMGAAM honorary president Ananda Shetty, vice president advocate Shekhar S Bhandary, honorary general secretary Bhaskar B Shetty, and honorary treasurer CA Rohithaksha Devadiga.

As part of the program, retired professors of the college, Prof Arunakumara SR (accompanied by his wife Poornima Arun) and Prof Usharani Suvarna (with her husband Diwakar Poojary), were felicitated with ‘Guruvandana’ honors.

The Achievers Award was presented to retired deputy commissioner of police Harishchandra Hejamady (wife Shyamala Harishchandra) and Vishwajit Kotian from Dubai (wife Supriya Vishwajit) in recognition of their achievements.

In his presidential address, Vasudeva Salian highlighted the importance of Vijaya College in their lives. "The institution where we gained knowledge is our ‘Vidya Mandir.’ It is our responsibility to ensure future generations have the same opportunities to learn here. It is a collective duty to support and safeguard our college," he said.

Among the attendees were Nadibettu Nithyananda Hegde, K N Suvarna, Lawrence D’Souza, CA Somnath Kundar, Ranjan Shetty, Ramesh Shetty, Bhaskar M Salian, CA Kishore Suvarna, Malarbidu Ramesh Shetty, Y T Shetty, Dinesh C Salian, CA Ashwajit Hejmady, Kishore Shetty, Jitendra Chawta, Kapu Ashok Shetty, Mohan Shetty, Naveen Bangera, Ashok Devadiga, Shyam Shenoy, Haryappa Shetty, and Anita Vasudeva Salian.

The event featured cultural performances, including a welcome dance by Ku Dhruti Diwakar Poojary and Ku Sharanya Shashidhar Bangera, followed by a devotional invocation. Ku Tanvi Dayananda Devadiga and Ku Anvita Shashi Kotian also performed dance routines. Shashidhar Bangera compered the cultural segment.

Babita Diwakar Poojary led the prayer session. Ananda Shetty welcomed the gathering and provided an introduction. Bhaskar B Shetty presented the annual report, while CA Rohithaksha Devadiga presented the financial report. Takshila Prasad Bhandary introduced the guests, while Sarita Rao, Lakshish Rao, Ratnakar R Salian, and Manohar Hejmady introduced the awardees. Harish Hejmady served as the master of ceremonies, and Shekhar S Bhandary delivered the vote of thanks.
