Charcop Kannada Sangha organises state-level women’s meet for silver jubilee celebration

Mumbai, Feb 23: Charcop Kannada Sangha, a prominent association in Kandivli West, celebrated its silver jubilee by hosting a state-level women’s meet at the Gymkhana on Sunday afternoon. The event was held under the leadership of the association's president, Ravindra M Shetty.

The chief guest, Sarojini H Shettigar, the president of the women’s wing of the Padmashali Samaj Seva Sangha, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp and delivered the keynote address.

In her speech, Shettigar praised the significance of such meetings in shaping society and preserving cultural values. “This celebration is the result of years of hard work and dedication. The Sangha has also built its own facility, which showcases the association's commitment to service. Gatherings like this help to spread our culture and values,” she said.

The event featured an engaging session titled 'Women’s World - Myths and Reality', which was chaired by advocate Amita S Bhagwat. The session included discussions by esteemed speakers such as poet and author Deepa Gonal Hangal, professor and writer Dr Madhumala K Mangaluru, and journalist and writer Dr G P Kusuma, who shared insights on the lives, struggles, and challenges faced by women in rural, urban, and metropolitan environments.

Awards were presented to winners of various competitions organized by the Sangha. The ceremony also included a poetry session led by entrepreneurs Krishnananda Shettigar and renowned artist Jayashila Suvarna. Poets such as Shameem Kuttar Kumble, Hema S. Ameen, Vani Shetty, and others shared their works during this segment.

Additionally, Dr Surekha Radhakrishna Nayak's poetry collection, Kathegalestu Chenn, was launched by the renowned poet and writer Hemalatha Vastrad, who also introduced the book, along with Shashikala Hegde.

The event saw performances by the women of Charcop Kannada Sangha, including devotional prayers and cultural presentations.
Usha Gopal Shetty, Mundappa S. Payyade (chairman of the Silver Jubilee Committee), Prakash M. Kotyan (honorary general secretary), and Gopal Trasi (cultural director) were among the dignitaries who attended the event.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Rajeevi A R Kotyan, the treasurer of the association.
