Udupi, Feb 24: The Vishwaprabha award, sponsored by Prabhavati Shenoy and Udupi Vishwanath Shenoy, was conferred on Tulu theatre and film actor Naveen D Padil on February 23 at the IVC auditorium of Udupi Kalaranga. The award ceremony was organized by Samskruti Vishwa Pratishtana, Udupi, in association with the Kannada and Culture Department, Bengaluru.
Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj, who was the chief guest, said that Tulu comedy plays help in reducing mental stress. "Making the audience in Udupi laugh is a challenging task, and only talented artists like Naveen Padil can accomplish it," he remarked.

Tulu theatre director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail and assistant director of the Kannada and Culture Department, Udupi, Poornima, also spoke on the occasion. Writer Shashiraj Kavoor delivered the felicitation address.
Honorary president of the trust Udupi Vishwanath Shenoy, Shashiprabha Shenoy, president Prof Shankar, and vice president Madhusudhan Heruru were present. The Vishwaprabha Award Committee convenor Raviraj H P delivered the welcome address, while director Maravante Nagaraj Hebbar agve the introductory remarks. The program was compered by Shilpa Joshi.
