'Beware of fake news', says CM unveiling state-level website for coronavirus

Bengaluru, Apr 9 (IANS): The Karnataka government has unveiled a dedicated Covid website to disseminate authentic information, Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa said on Thursday.

"Please visit covid19.karnataka.gov.in for official information on Covid, helpline numbers, fake news busted, circulars and real-time dashboard," tweeted Yediyurappa.

Spreading false news is punishable, do not trust unauthorized news, appealed Yediyurappa.

"Spreading false news is punishable. Do not trust unauthorized news," said Yediyurappa advising people to visit the official website covid.19.karnataka.gov.in for authentic information.

"For all information, government-issued circulars, accurate statistics and helpline information, please visit the official website of the state government," he said.

Run by the state's Department of Information and Public Relations, the website has multiple details, photographs, videos, messages from the chief minister and others.

It asked interested people to apply for volunteering in Covid relief works and also solicited donations.

Aiming to inform the masses correctly, the website has a section called Fact or Fiction: How much you know about Covid?

Similarly, it also provided links to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Central government and the state government.
