Udupi: Burglars strike police quarters, loot valuables while personnel on night duty

Udupi, Feb 24: In a shocking incident, thieves broke into police quarters near Mission Compound in Udupi and looted valuables in the early hours of the morning.

The burglary took place around 3 am, when the District Armed Reserve (DAR) police personnel had left for their night duties, leaving their homes unattended.

The quarters, located near the Armed Reserve Police Office, were targeted by the intruders. According to reports, one of the officers lost silver anklets and silver coins during the theft.

In another house, the burglars reportedly found police uniforms, medals, and caps, but left them untouched. This has led authorities to believe that the criminals may not have realised they were targeting police quarters.

Authorities suspect that the crime may have been committed by a gang of burglars from outside the state, who are unfamiliar with the local language and unaware of the significance of the location.

Fingerprint experts have arrived at the scene to collect evidence, and the case is currently under investigation by the Udupi Town police station. Authorities are working to track down the perpetrators and uncover the details behind the unusual burglary.
