New Delhi, Feb 24: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took oath as a member of the legislative assembly on Monday, marking the beginning of the 8th legislative assembly’s first session. Gupta arrived at the Delhi assembly flashing a victory sign, exuding confidence.
Ahead of the Assembly’s opening, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma reassured the people that the new government would work diligently to fulfil its promises. "We will meet your expectations and ensure Delhi’s development. While we don’t claim to make Delhi like Paris or London, our commitment is to take the city to new heights," he said.

The session commenced with BJP MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely taking the oath as Protem speaker at Raj Niwas, administered by lieutenant governor VK Saxena. The election for the speaker is scheduled for 2pm.
Calling it a historic day, Delhi minister Kapil Mishra remarked, "Those who misled Delhi have realized that the real power lies with the people. Corruption has an expiry date, and now, under CM Rekha Gupta’s leadership, Delhi will see a government that truly works for its people."
Meanwhile, Arvinder Singh Lovely extended his wishes to AAP’s Atishi on becoming leader of opposition, adding, "My sympathies are with her, as her own party members once called her a ‘temporary CM’."
As per the Delhi Assembly bulletin, LG VK Saxena will address the House on February 25, followed by the tabling of the CAG reports. The motion of thanks on the LG’s address will be introduced the same day, with discussions starting on February 26. The deputy speaker election is also scheduled for that day.
