Udupi, Feb 24: ‘Shivapady Vaibhava’ of Sri Uma Maheshwara Temple Shivapady inaugurated at temple premises on February 22.
The event is organized by the Shivapady Sri Uma Maheshwara Temple development trust and Shivapady Vaibhava Celebration Committee from February 22 to February 26, features a combined program of Yakshagana, agriculture, health and food fairs.
Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, in his inaugural note, emphasized the importance of promoting agricultural interest among youths and said, “In a time when the youth are moving away from agriculture, it is crucial to cultivate interest in farming among children. Encouraging agricultural interest among children is a noble initiative.”
Dr H S Ballal, vice chancellor MAHE Manipal, presided over the event and said, “India is predominantly dependent on agriculture. The agriculture fair specifically aimed at sparking interest in farming among the youth. Youths must utilize this opportunity.”
Individuals who made significant contribution in various fields were awarded on the occasion, including, Sudarshan Bhat Bedradi for culinary arts, Manjunath Kamath for social media, Usha Hebbar for music, Dr Shashikiran Umakanth for medicine, Dr M L Samaga for Yakshagana, Mukund Prabhu for entrepreneurship, Rurama Reddy for entrepreneurship, Rikesh Palan for agriculture and Dr Shankar for contribution in agriculture.
K Ragupathi Bhat, former MLA and president Shivapady Vaibhava celebration committee gave an introductory note. Mahesh Takur, temple administrator, welcomed the gathering. Journalist Rajesh K C compered the event.
The inaugural event was attended by MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, Vidwan Ramachandra Kunjibettu, former ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj, businessman Uday Kumar Shetty Muniyal, permanent trustee of the temple Dinesh Samanth, trustee Satish Patil, Shubhakar Samanth, Prakash Prabhu, Ashok Samanth, secretary of Parliamentary Affairs Nagaraj Kamath, Prakash Kukkehalli, general secretary of Shivapady Vaibhava Celebration Committee and secretary of temple development trust Gopalakrishna Prabhu.
