Mangaluru, Apr 4: Srinivas College of Pharmacy in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association, DK District Local Branch, Mangaluru and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, organised a two-day national conference with theme ‘Innovative practices in clinical training & patient safety’ on April 4 and 5.
The conference was inaugurated on April 4 by the chief guest, Dinesh Chandra A Hegde, managing director, Vasudha Life Sciences Pvt Ltd, Brahmavara, Udupi. While addressing the gathering he said that the phenomenal growth that we have seen in the last ten years in Indian pharma sector is due to the efforts put towards the robost efficacy and minimal side effects of innovative drugs.

Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, president, A Shama Rao Foundation, Mangaluru and chancellor of Srinivas University, Mangaluru in his presidential remarks said that patient safety starts from safe drugs and their precautionary use and to achieve this goal not only pharmacy professionals were responsible but also with cooperation with other healthcare professionals. He has released conference abstract book, a book of compilation of published research articles of 2024 and the College magazine Pharmashree on this occasion.
Guest of honour, Dr A Srinivas Rao, hon pro chancellor, Srinivas University, Mangaluru & vice president, A Shama Rao Foundation called upon more and more involvement in the pharma research activities and appreciated the students publications.
During the programme. Dr A R Shabaraya, principal Srinivas College of Pharmacy and president, IPA local branch, Mangaluru welcomed the participants and introduced the guests.
Dr Vijayanarayana K, associate professor, department of Pharmacy Practice, MCOPS, Manipal, Dr E V S Subrahmanyam, professor & HOD, vice president, IPA local branch, Mangaluru Dr Krishnananda Kamath, professor & HOD, were present during the programme.
This conference had oral and poster scientific sessions. More than 500 original scientific papers were presented in the poster scientific session. Apart from this, conference also conducted quiz and patient information leaflet completion (PIL) on patient safety.
More than 550 delegates had participated in the conference. Dr Padmavathi P Prabhu, professor, Joseline & Ranjitha Pharm D students anchored the programme. Dr E V S Subrahmanyam, professor, Srinivas College of Pharmacy and vice president, IPA, Mangaluru proposed vote of thanks.
