Udupi, Apr 4: In a landmark collaboration aimed at fostering research, knowledge exchange and student internships, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, Udupi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research 4th Paradigm Institute (CSIR-4PI), Bengaluru on April 3.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the SMVITM campus in the presence of key representatives from both organisations. Dr Imthiyaz A Parvez, chief scientist and Chiranjeevi Vivek G, principal scientist from CSIR-4PI were present on the occasion.
On behalf of SMVITM, the ceremony was graced by Rathnakumar, secretary of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, CEO of Shri Sode Group of Educational Institutions, Dr Thirumaleshwar Bhat, principal of SMVITM, Dr Sudarshan Rao K, dean (Quality Assurance), Dr Nagaraj Bhat, dean (Academics), Dr Suraj Francis Noronha, director of MBA, liaison officer of MoU, Dr Surajith Deb Barma along with heads of various departments.

The MoU is signed to leverage the strengths of both institutions and outlines a number of collaborative initiatives, including the deputation of researchers and academicians for mutually agreed periods.
The MoU outlines the organisation of joint conferences, workshops and seminars aimed at knowledge-sharing and research collaboration. Students from SMVITM will have the opportunity to undertake internships at CSIR-4PI through the Student Programme for Advancement in Research Knowledge (SPARK) and skill development programmes. Faculty members from both institutions will jointly guide BE, MTech and PhD students in areas of mutual academic interest.
Apart from the above, a centre has been set up in the institute campus to study the plate movement of earth plates. The data generated through this centre can also be used by the faculty and students for research/ projects.
This collaboration is a significant step toward enhancing the research and academic opportunities for students and faculty members at SMVITM, while simultaneously contributing to the advancement of scientific research at CSIR-4PI.
