Moodbidri: MITE secures all india third position in Guvi’s RPA-SKILL-A-THON conducted by UiPath

Moodbidri, Jul 3: Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE), here, secured third position in the All India Robotic Process Automation Skillathon conducted by Guvi and UiPath in June.

The recognition ceremony for the top institutions was held on July 3 through a virtual ceremony. The Skillathon event was conducted to provide students an opportunity to add a new skill and get exposure to the Robotic Process Automation (RPA). The event conducted in June witnessed 400+ colleges across the country and 60,000+ participants. Around 2600+ students of MITE participated in this national event, and got certified. The evolving technologies in Artificial Intelligence and Automation is creating enormous opportunities for the industries and the economy. The philosophy at MITE has been to impart to students the knowledge required for the future, and this certification is one among such initiatives where students participated to be ‘Future-Ready’.

The chief guest of the recognition ceremony, Buddha Chandrashekar, chief coordinating officer, AICTE, MHRD, mentioned that AICTE is turning toward a student-centric approach to create skilled professionals. He stressed on the need of students to have industrial experience while pursuing graduation. Murali Mohan, vice-president, India business, UIPath in his address mentioned that more number of businesses are transforming to newer digital technologies. Young professionals have to be accustomed to these technologies. This challenge was an effort to make students and faculty realize the power of automation.

Narendra U P, dean (training and placement), MITE, represented MITE in the recognition ceremony. In his address, he thanked UiPath and GUVI for providing a unique learning opportunity to the students to leverage their skills in the automation domain. He mentioned, "With the COVID-19 posing new challenges, it is a unique opportunity to the students and young engineers to innovate and invent new solutions that can aid in the contact-less work environment. With Artificial Intelligence highly across all the domains, including in the airport to check social distancing, students should adopt and learn new technologies irrespective of their engineering background. He also urged students and young innovators to identify one unique problem, and work toward providing technological solution.

UiPath, who conducted this skillathon, is the world’s leading company in RPA. RPA is the use of 'software with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning capabilities' that can perform 'high-volume, repeatable tasks'. This automation process eliminates the requirement of humans.

Rajesh Chouta, chairman, MITE commended the students and faculty for achieving top position. He said that MITE has been at the forefront in providing leading technology enabled learning to its students in Engineering & Management Studies, and will continue its collaboration with major companies to prepare students to be ‘Industry Ready’. This year, MITE is also introducing a new course- BE in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The recognition at the national level in AI competition has added more value to the newly introduced course. In 2019 as well MITE was the top performing partner institution in the All India RPA Challenge. Dr G L Eashwara Prasad, principal, in his press release also congratulated all the students and faculty for this commendable achievement.
