Media Release

Udupi, Apr 23: The Bishop of Udupi diocese, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, has strongly condemned the heart-wrenching terrorist attack that occurred in Pahalgam, Kashmir on April 22.

Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident which claimed the lives of innocent civilians and left several families devastated. "Such acts of violence are utterly inhumane and have no place in a society that strives for justice, dignity, and peace. Every human life is precious, and the loss caused by violence is a wound to our collective conscience," Bishop said.

Recalling the words of Pope Francis, Bishop Lobo stated, "Fraternity is the true foundation of lasting peace." He emphasised that this message is not just for the faithful, but serves as a reminder to all about the urgent need to build a future grounded in dignity, compassion, and mutual respect.

Offering his condolences to the families of the victims, the Bishop prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He urged leaders, communities, and individuals across the region and the nation to respond with renewed commitment to courage, unity, and peace.
