Mangaluru: Mulur area in Gurupura declared containment zone

Mangaluru, May 28: Following the detection of a coronavirus-positive case of a 23-year-old man, the district administration declared a specific area Barke, Mulur village in Gurupura, as a containment zone on Thursday, May 28.

Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh issued an order regarding the same.

The order states that the containment area is bound by empty land in the east, west, north and south. Also, a buffer zone of an area of 5 km around the containment zone has been created, with Gurupura river marking its east boundary, Kandavara village its west boundary, Addoor in the north boundary and Thenkulipady village marking its south boundary.

There are 1,808 houses in the buffer zone, and 467 shops and offices, covering a population of 5,445 people.

For an effective implementation of coronavirus control measures, Assistant Executive Engineer of Panchayat Raj Engineering Division, Taluk Panchayat, Mangaluru, is appointed as an incident commander who will be in charge of the containment zone, the order stated.

In Dakshina Kannada, 105 positive corona-positive are reported, out of which 59 are currently active. As many as 39 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.

    People need to develop broader thinking and learn to live with COVID. As our movement can't be restricted to one place for ever, the chance of getting infected is always present. There may be so many factors contributing to the occurrence of covid. Only thing take precautions as much as can. Change the life style. When seeing so many spitting on the road, no mask, being in close proximity to each other, u am left to wonder...have v thrown caution to wind ? In course of time quarantine, containment zone, ...also will vanish.

    Plz learn to live with disease with some chabed habits.

    The moment it comes to seriousness of the disease where
    we need to help: the blame game starts. Why do we blame gulf returnees and neighbouring states. We have accepted
    their development in economy foreign exchange and their help in many
    untold methods. Actually if we have to blame it's only WUHAN from
    Where it originated and couldn't be stopped. Now that it's living in our neighborhood let's pray to the Almighty to give us strength to eradicate spiritually with all of us accepting it to stop it hand in hand with social distance and the measures with humanity.

    We cannot blame people came from other states. They are residents of India. They pay tax. They are part of developing India. They use their skills which they got due to free education policy of India, in developing their mother country. They look after their aged parents. So Govt has a responsibility to take care of them.

    Nancy Belman there is no problem with the gulf returnees even if they are found positive as they go into quarantine and the passengers are around 176. The problem has come up due to the people comming from neighbouring states either legally or illegally. There is no track of these illegal people entering and it's the duty of the neighbours to inform the concerned authorities if they find any new persons in the neighborhood. This will prevent spread of virus due to contact.
