Bantwal: Lorry overturns, catches fire near Maani; driver injured

Bantwal, Feb 23: A lorry transporting soft drinks overturned and caught fire near Sattikallu, close to Maani, on National Highway 75 on Sunday, February 23.

The driver, Mohammad Irfan (37), lost control of the vehicle, which led to the accident. Sparks from the crash ignited the tyres and spread to other parts of the vehicle.

The driver sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Puttur for treatment. The lorry, which was loaded with soft drink bottles, spilled its contents onto the road. Several of the bottles also caught fire, intensifying the blaze.

Firefighters from Bantwal quickly arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire.

No other casualties were reported. The authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
