Delhi CM Rekha Gupta slams AAP for empty exchequer, vows to implement women’s aid scheme

New Delhi, Feb 23: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday accused the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of leaving the state’s exchequer empty, but assured that her administration would implement the promised ?2,500 monthly assistance scheme for women with careful financial planning.

Gupta made the remarks after attending a meeting with BJP MLAs at the party’s state office ahead of the inaugural session of the newly formed 8th Delhi Assembly, scheduled for Monday.

Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, the newly appointed Chief Minister confirmed that multiple discussions had been held with officials to assess the fiscal situation and devise an implementation strategy for the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, under which eligible women in Delhi would receive ?2,500 per month.

“The financial condition inherited from the previous government is concerning. Upon reviewing the current status with officials, we found that the public exchequer is nearly empty,” Gupta stated in response to a query about the scheme’s rollout. However, she reaffirmed the BJP government’s commitment to ensuring its implementation.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva also addressed the media, emphasizing that the party’s primary objective is to foster a developed and well-governed Delhi while addressing key issues affecting its citizens.
