Udupi, May 25: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has alleged that miscreants have been spreading fake tweets attributed to her in a bid to tarnish her image and disrupt social health and peace in society. She has urged the Mangaluru city police commissioner to immediately arrest the miscreants.
She said that news about her alleged tweet relating to the death of Nishanth, a youth from Kalladka, was fake.
On Sunday May 24, Nishanth had reportedly ended his life by jumping into river at Panemangalore. Shamir Muhammed Mommu, Tauseef Zahid Jayi, Muqtar from Akkarangady and Arif HIghway who were celebrating Eid had jumped into the river, rescued him and taken him to hospital but the youth did not survive although he was treated there.
Immediately thereafter, screenshot of a tweet which looked like having been made by Shobha Karandlaje in which she said Nishanth from Kalladka, who belonged to Hindu organization, was killed by Jihadis, was shared in social media. The tweet also added that she had asked Amit Shah to take action against the Jihadis concerned.
Shobha has denied having made any such claims and termed the information being circulated in social media and other sites in her name as fake and false. She said that the support extended by Congress leaders to the conspiracy hatched by 'Jihadis' to sully her image exhibits their distorted mindset. She urged the police to find out the culprits behind this act and see that they are brought to book.
She has termed this as an effort by 'Jihadis' to spoil her image. She says that someone has spread the statement purported to have been made though her Twitter account, claiming that relating to the death of Nishant from Kalladka, she had blamed Jihadi forces. Through a video clip, she asserted that she has neither made any post in the social media on the issue nor issued any statement to the media.
She has urged the Mangaluru police commissioner to immediately arrest those who were behind making posts in her name and to take suitable action against them.
