Mangaluru/Udupi, May 23: Two people tested positive in Dakshina Kannada (DK), while three new cases were detected in Udupi on Saturday May 23.
As reported earlier, the two who tested positive in DK are a 30-year-old man and 41-year-old woman. The man had returned from Maharashtra and the woman is from Beltangady.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 42,011 people have been screened so far, including 162 on Saturday. As many as 40 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Surathkal quarantine facility with eight new admissions. Another 18 are quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 6,503 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 5,854 tested negative, and 65 positive, out of which 33 are currently active. As many as 26 persons have recovered and been discharged, and six deaths have occurred so far.
Thirty of the active patients are responding well to the treatment. The remaining three are shifted to ICU and their condition is said to be stable.
Out of the 65 positive cases, 59 are from Dakshina Kannada and six patients are from other districts.
As many as 252 samples were sent for testing on Saturday. Reports of 248 samples were received on Saturday out of which 246 tested negative and two positive.
Reports of 584 samples are awaited. As many as 15 people have been admitted for observation.
A total of 3,929 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Saturday, five cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
Udupi
As reported earlier, three people tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday. One of them had travelled from Maharashtra and the source of infection of the other two patients is yet to be ascertained. The three are two men aged 40 and 49 and a 34-year-old woman.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,489 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 81 on Saturday, and a total of 4,301 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 69 on Saturday. As many as 351 persons are currently in home quarantine and 8,010 are under institutional quarantine.
Altogether, 67 high-risk persons and 15 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 106 people are in isolation wards, including 21 fresh admissions on Saturday. Among them, six are coronavirus suspect, while five others have SARI and 10 influenza-like illness.
As many as 583 people, including 11 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 5,703 samples have been collected so far, including 856 on Saturday, among whom 18 are coronavirus contacts. Out of them, 2,727 samples have turned out to be negative, and 2,925 reports are awaited. Fifty-three confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including a death. Three have recovered, and 49 are active.
