Mangaluru/Udupi, May 22: On the 59th day of lockdown, one person tested positive in Dakshina Kannada (DK), while three new cases were detected in Udupi on Friday May 22. Also, a person under quarantine who committed suicide on Thursday, tested positive on Friday.
As reported earlier, a 29-year-old woman from Beltangady tested positive. She had returned from Dombivli in Mumbai on May 18. In addition, a person who committed suicide in Kadandale on May 21, tested positive on Friday.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 41,849 people have been screened so far, including 84 on Friday. As many as 32 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Surathkal quarantine facility. Another 18 are quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 6,251 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 5,609 tested negative, and 63 positive, out of which 36 are currently active. As many as 21 persons have recovered and been discharged, and six deaths have occurred so far.
Out of the 63 positive cases, 57 are from Dakshina Kannada and six patients are from other districts.
As many as 198 samples were sent for testing on Friday. Reports of 26 samples were received on Friday out of which 24 tested negative and two positive.
Reports of 580 samples are awaited. As many as 13 people have been admitted for observation.
A total of 3,840 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Friday, four cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
Udupi
As reported earlier, three people tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. All of them had travelled from Maharashtra. Two of them are males aged 31 and 55 while the woman is aged 48.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,408 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 17 on Friday, and a total of 4,232 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including two on Friday. As many as 400 persons are currently in home quarantine and 8,010 are under institutional quarantine.
Altogether, 64 high-risk persons and 15 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 96 people are in isolation wards, including 17 fresh admissions on Friday. Among them, four are coronavirus suspect, while five others have SARI and eight influenza-like illness.
As many as 572 people, including 16 on Friday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 4,847 samples have been collected so far, including 1,082 on Friday, among whom 22 are coronavirus contacts. Out of them, 2,388 samples have turned out to be negative, and 2,409 reports are awaited. Fifty confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including a death. Three have recovered, and 46 are active.
