Puttur: Boy returns golden ring found in food kit

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Apr 13: A poor family which received food kit being distributed to families distressed by coronavirus lockdown, found to its surprise that there was a golden ring inside the rice forming part of the food kit. The boy who found the ring lost no time in returning the ring.

The boy who gave ample evidence about his honesty through this act happens to be Hukas, son of Haneef, resident of Karmala in Haradi ward in the city.

A number of good kits were distributed on behalf of Buntara Sangha through the war room belonging to local MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor. Some among the kits were distributed by municipal councillor Premalata Nandila, to poor families of her ward.

Hukas, who found the ring on opening the rice sachet, returned the ring to Premalata. She conveyed information to Buntara Sangha but they found that it did not belong to anyone connected with the Sangha. A detailed inquiry revealed that the owner of the ring was Ramchandra Ghate, one of the volunteers engaged in preparing food kits.

Premalata asked Ghate, Buntara Sangha representative, K S Alva, and the boy in question, Hukas, to her home and the boy handed over the ring to Ghate in the presence of others. Premalata also gave gift to the boy in appreciation of his honesty.

    Dear Hukas ...
Not many an adult would have done what you did.
In these difficult times that too.
Shows your up bringing...reflects on your parents too.
