Mangaluru, Nov 16: On the occasion of the sesquicentennial celebrations of the Apostolic Carmel in India, the faculty of Carmel School, here, organized a significant programme showcasing the glimpses of the pioneering days in India. From the large village of Mangaluru to the smart city of today, this congregation and the sisters have played a magnificent role in the field of education and especially the education of the girl child.
The programme was initiated with a prayer of gratitude, offering 15 lamps symbolizing each decade. This followed a meaningful dance ‘Neene Neene’- ‘You Alone Lord’ depicting the motto of the Apostolic Carmel - God Alone Suffices. The significance of the day was enumerated by Sr Sarika, the principal. The folk dance graciously recounted the goodness and the bountiful blessings of God on the congregation.
The play entitled ‘The Faith Journey of the Shattered Dream’ scripted and directed by Sr Rose Agnes, the adminstrator exemplified the struggle of Mother Veronica, the hardships borne by the daring first Superior General, Mother Marie Des Ange, the role of Mother Aloysia, the woman of caliber and vision, to the ‘Keepers of the Flame’ that followed thereafter and to every sister in the journey of the 150 mile. The programme was compered by Cynthia Renjal.
‘A New Star Risen in the Ocean’ was a final song of affection hailing Venerable Mother Veronica and offering the gratitude of a hundred fifty generations.
