Gaza, Apr 22: In the latest escalation of violence, Israeli forces continue their bombardment of Gaza, resulting in at least 25 Palestinian deaths since dawn, including 11 individuals who perished in a fire caused by an Israeli strike in Khan Younis.

Amidst the ongoing violence, US forces have maintained their attacks on Yemen, despite claims from the Houthis of targeting both Israeli and US aircraft carriers in the Red Sea. The geopolitical turmoil extends to the region’s religious communities, with Palestinians in Gaza mourning the loss of Pope Francis, who had maintained close and consistent contact with the small Christian community there throughout the conflict.

The death toll in Gaza continues to rise. According to the Gaza Government Media Office, over 61,700 Palestinians have been confirmed dead since the onset of the conflict, with more than 116,931 wounded. Thousands remain missing under the rubble and are presumed dead. This marks a tragic continuation of the war, which began 18 months ago.

In addition to the casualties in Gaza, the violence has also claimed the lives of at least 1,139 people in Israel, following the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attacks. Furthermore, over 200 individuals were taken captive during those attacks.
