Tel Aviv, Apr 23: In the wake of the heinous terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed deep sorrow and extended strong support to India in its fight against terrorism.
Taking to social media platform X, Netanyahu wrote, “My dear friend @narendramodi, I am deeply saddened by the barbaric terrorist attack in #Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, that killed and injured dozens of innocents. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims & their families. Israel stands with India in its fight against terrorism.”
The attack, which occurred on April 22, targeted innocent tourists and locals, claiming several lives and leaving many injured. It triggered nationwide outrage, with political leaders and citizens alike condemning the senseless act of violence.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level security meeting in New Delhi shortly after the incident and later arrived in Srinagar to conduct a comprehensive security review. He also briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the situation. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and top security officials participated in the crucial discussions.
The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police swiftly launched a joint search operation in the Baisran area of Pahalgam in Anantnag district to track down the perpetrators. “Joint Forces will oversee the situation. Medical teams were swiftly mobilised and casualty evacuation commenced,” the Chinar Corps stated.
In response to the attack, candlelight marches were held across the region, including in Sopore, Ganderbal, Handwara, and Bandipora, reflecting the collective grief and condemnation of the local populace.
Chinar Corps added, “In response to this senseless violence and the anguish caused to local sentiments, a candle march was organised… A Joint Search Operation has been launched... with all efforts focused on bringing the attackers to justice.”
The international support, particularly from Israel, underscores the global unity against terrorism, as India continues its efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
