Gaza, Apr 23: The Gaza Health Ministry, under Hamas administration, has firmly rejected allegations of manipulating the death toll in the ongoing conflict, following accusations from Israel and media reports raising doubts about the accuracy of the figures.

According to the Health Ministry, over 51,266 people have tragically lost their lives in Gaza since the war erupted 18 months ago, with nearly a third of the deceased being children. However, Israel has consistently disputed the accuracy of these figures, claiming that they are inflated and often used by Hamas as part of its propaganda efforts. The Israeli government also questions the lack of distinction between civilian casualties and members of Palestinian armed groups in the death toll reports.

In recent weeks, several media outlets have raised concerns about the reliability of these numbers, citing discrepancies in the reported fatalities from different months. One such issue highlighted is the removal of around 3,000 names from the death toll in updated lists, further fueling doubts over the accuracy of the data being presented.

As the conflict continues, the controversy over the figures is adding to the already tense situation, with both sides using the casualty data to bolster their respective narratives.
