Mangaluru/Udupi, May 21: Five people tested positive in Dakshina Kannada (DK), while 26 new cases were detected in Udupi on Thursday May 21. One person who was cured was discharged in DK on Thursday.
As reported earlier, six people tested positive on Wednesday. Five of them belong to DK while one is from Kalaburagi. All had returned from Dubai on May 18.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 41,765 people have been screened so far, including 171 on Thursday. As many as 32 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility. Another 14 are quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 6,053 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 5,584 tested negative, and 61 positive, out of which 35 are currently active. As many as 21 persons have recovered and been discharged, and five deaths have occurred so far.
P-506, a 45-year-old resident of Kulshekar who was tested positive on April 23 has cured and discharged on Thursday.
Out of the 61 positive cases, 55 are from Dakshina Kannada and six patients are from other districts.
As many as 333 samples were sent for testing on Thursday. Reports of 502 samples were received on Thursday out of which 496 tested negative and six positive.
Reports of 408 samples are awaited. As many as 15 people have been admitted for observation.
A total of 3,748 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Thursday, 21 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
A total of 24,799 migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Jharkhand have been sent home by special Shramik trains.
Udupi
As reported earlier, 26 people tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday. Twenty-one of them have travelled from Maharashtra, three from Telangana and one each from Dubai and Kerala.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,391 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 34 on Thursday, and a total of 4,230 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 46 on Thursday. As many as 314 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, 57 high-risk persons and four low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 95 people are in isolation wards, including 10 fresh admissions on Thursday. Among them, six are coronavirus suspect, while two others have SARI and two influenza-like illness.
As many as 556 people, including nine on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 3,765 samples have been collected so far, including 653 on Thursday, among whom 64 are coronavirus contacts. Out of them, 2,231 samples have turned out to be negative, and 1,487 reports are awaited. Forty-seven confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including a death. Three have recovered, and 43 are active. The patient from Chitradurga who was tested positive and treated at Dr TMA Pai Hospital in Udupi is being counted as patient of Chitradurga centre thus bringing the total count of positive cases down from 48 to 47 in the district.
