Mangaluru: 40-year-old woman tests positive for coronavirus on May 20

Mangaluru, May 20: One person tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday May 20.

The newly identified coronavirus patient is a 40-year-old woman. She is a resident of Neermarga. Sources said that she was residing in two houses at Kudupu and Kuttikala.

She had travelled from Rajajinagar in Bengaluru along with her son to Mangaluru on May 10.

The woman was suffering from Asthma and had blood pressure related issues. As she was having respiratory problems, she was admitted to Wenlock COVID hospital on May 17.

The district administration is planning to seal down all the places the infected woman had been in the week.

With this, the total number of cases in Dakshina Kannada has risen to 55 out of which 33 are currently active. As many as 17 persons have recovered and been discharged, and five deaths have occurred so far.

    May 10, She might have applied pass and travelled to mangalore. Today is 20th may. Usually they will put a seal in hand and send her. She is supposed to follow strict home quarantine for 14 days. Who is monitoring this. How come she traveled between kudupu and kuntikan. If she travelled it is violation of Epidemic act. She should be punished under section 188 of the Indian penal code.

    See because of this lady so much prblm in seal down 3 places. When she was in home quarantine why she moved to other places. Hope concern dept will take action against breaking law.

    The regular follow up of all home quarantined people with history of travel will prevent them from getting out of their homes after travel. This is where kerala has been very successful till now. After reaching their homesin kerala from mumbai or other places, each traveller gets at least 3 calls a day from the local government task force to enquire about them. Police, health worker or panchayat member visit their house once in 3 days to confirm their health status. And their mobile location is tracked through mobile towers. This kind of care and monitoring that is shown by the kerala government is missing in most other parts of the country.

    This virus is going to stay with us for a long time till the vaccine is found. Sanitisation, mask, gloves , etc are of no use in front of this virus.....i would suggest you all to eat healthy food to improve your immune system. God save you all......

    Totally Agree with you that This Virus is going to stay with us for long then what we taught in the initial days. Body Immune plays a very important role here so eat healthy. But your saying it is of no use of Using Sensitization, Mask and Gloves is not Acceptable. These precautions are MUST for keeping the Virus in Control from Further Spreading.

    DK has to take Kerala Govt. footsteps to control Covid spread.
    Mangalore is known for Medical colleges & hospitals.
    Don't treat covid patients as criminals.
    If anyone has symptoms should not fear for testing.
    Stop blaming Delhi / Mumbai / Gulf countries & religion for spread of virus.
    Be safe & follow the Govt. guidelines

    The way the corona is spreading in last few weeks.
    It looks like end of JULY all India count will cross 5 lakhs of infection.
    With Karnataka raising towards 1 lakh mark or more.

    Its all because of Indian government we are getting into trouble.
    When did Indian government come to know about the virus ?? maybe end of January or before. and when did our government took action (mid of march). Look how careless our government is. Because of government negligence (even some residents of India also) we all are struggling and even the poor are getting beaten by the cops in some places. Now we are getting blamed for negligence and for not following the rules because of the government and no one is questioning about this . I really appreciate government for some reasons but it would have been best if Government had taken action as soon as they came to know.

    Evenafter knowing the symptoms (everyone knows as it is made aware through social media since December) these people will never sit in quarantine.... Sad thing is knowing that they are sick... Then better to close all the borders connecting to other states... Taking advantage of loosening the lock down... When you are sick whats the need of travelling here and there instead of sitting inside? They want to come to Mangalore and then roam as per their wish ......on each and every one police can't keep an eye.. They too are fed up controlling the people... Those who don't obey quarantine stictly, please make them to pay all the medical and ambulance charges.... disgusting

    Cynthia, the problem is the high concentration of population, also most are lacking education & seriousness! To add to it, the severe economic crises running concurrently is another serious issue!!

    Authorities should use the scarce available CORONA treatment facilities very very judiciously instead of dumping all those affected considering the fast spread!!

    It is relentless monitoring of quarantined people by authorities in Kerala helped them control it for atleast 3 months. They made sure that home quarantined people are visited by panchayat member, health workers, police etc randomly atleast 2-3 times a day and confirmed that they are indeed following the quarantining.

    Every state can do it, just needs the motivation and help from govt.
