Mangaluru: ‘Strict action against returnees violating quarantine rules’ – SP

Mangaluru, May 14: “Residents of the districts living in other states are returning to their hometowns within the rules laid down by the government due to lockdown,” stated superintendent of police (SP) B M Laxmi Prasad of the district in a press release on Thursday, May 14.

The SP has announced directions for such people to remain in quarantine in gram panchayat schools in their respective villages or other local organizations.

“Those who are returning belong to your villages and there are rules that the district administration should accommodate them separately in their gram panchayat limits. Their medical examinations are being conducted when they are brought. The task force in the respective gram panchayat limits will assist the returnees.

“Quarantine measures are being taken in the interest of all of you and there is no need for anybody to be afraid. Strict action under Contagious Disease Prevention Act will be taken against those who protest or oppose the process,” stated the SP in the press release.

    Very good decision by the officer. Many are still not serious of this virus. It is so dangerous and spreads many are in danger. People help the quarantine rules and get well soon and stop the spread.

    It is within the government's power to seize required hotels, private hospitals, hostels, colleges and private vehicles and outsource the quarantine services to professionals. Mere threat of "Strict action" may not work. Send them to jail? Jails are for criminals. Jails are also infected with virus and that may not serve the purpose. Government should take corrective action; not punitive action. Treat the gulf returnees with dignity and respect and ask volunteer organizations like RSS, BD, Jamate Islam, Catholic Sabha etc., to come forward and help them out. If not now, then when?

    Best thing is to suggest home quarantine and not to move out or meet anyone upto 14days. A letter duly signed as a promissory note to this effect be issued so that the person who would be under quarantine period understands responsibility towards the nation and the surrounding. In this way the person in his own dwelling place would have peace of mind and the authorities if they like can have a surprise check if they desire to see the safety.

    What kind of strict action ? People should themselves aware if they are really love the nation and patriotic !! we knew what kind of punishment given to the criminals who become routine offenders !!

    I salute the CORONa which bring the HUMAN to in their Knees, Nations, scientist, education, etc etc become vulnerable after all a invisible virus !!!!

    Dear Sir , what action will be taken for those who are resposible for not preaparing proper quarantine centre .All these NRI contributes largely for Nation devalopement . Why we are still living in british era , build good centres so that no one break rule

    Who said there are no proper quarantine centers??? .. there are five star hotels s quarantine centers.... but they're limited only for politicians and for their family members, Bollywood and other big business tycoons. For common citizens some panchayat offices or government schools.
    And also the strict action to the common man only. For the big shots they'll give big salutes and escorts.
