Udupi, Apr 13: A youth who suddenly appeared in the city from nowhere, scattered currency notes. As he walked on the road, currency notes of the denominations of Rs 2,000, Rs 500 and Rs 200 spilled on to the road and the people vied with each other to pick them up. However, once they held the notes in their hands and felt them by their fingers, the spirits of the people were dampened as they could easily find that the currency notes were fake.
This incident happened on Vadiraja Road in the city. Some locals immediately tried to catch hold of the young man but he succeeded in fleeing. Local social worker, Madhukar Mudrady, then put together all the fake currency notes and handed them over to the policemen of the town station here. Reportedly, the youth was in possession of more than two bundles of currency notes.
Some social websites also came out with the notion that fake currency notes are being scattered in an effort to spread coronavirus infection. Madhukar Mudrady is of the opinion that this could be a ploy to make the people apprehensive and keep them on tenterhooks.
