Mangaluru: St Agnes College encourages budding talents with ‘Artspire’

Mangaluru, Aug 29: St Agnes College (Autonomous) organised an intra-collegiate festival of arts ‘Artspire- to be inspired 2019-20’ on August 27.

Students from arts stream showcased their exceptional talents and skills through various competitions. Sr Dr Jeswina A C, principal of the college along with Shanthi Nazareth, dean of Arts, Artspire coordinator and economics lecturer Derik Dias and Arts vice president Sarah Monis inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

In her inaugural address, Sr Dr Jeswina AC, told students to make use of the opportunities and bring out their hidden talents.



Indigenous culture was the theme of Artspire 2019-20. There were 10 teams with 12 participants and each team was named after a state. The fest had events such as declamation, photography, RJ Hunt, stand-up comedy, documentary presentation, quiz, PowerPoint presentation, Rajneethi- a play on politics, dance and fashion show. Each team participated with true competitive spirit.

Characters from English literature came to life in declamation. Emotions spilled out in dance, culture of different states was shown through fashion show, stand-up comedy entertained the audience, RJ Hunt brought out the best RJ's of the college, expressions spoke through photography, Rajneethi showcased the real politics, quiz tested knowledge, PowerPoint presentation and documentary on historical places gave students a chance to explore their creativity and skills. Team Andhra Pradesh emerged as the overall all champions. Team Rajasthan and team Uttar Pradesh secured the runner-up prize. Sr Carmel Rita, administrator of the college, gave away the prizes to the winners during the valedictory ceremony.
