Pope Francis’ demise: Final respects paid at Mangalore Bishop’s house; prayers held across diocese

Mangaluru, April 21: Following the news of the demise of Pope Francis, the supreme head of the Catholic Church, MLC Ivan D’Souza and Alwyn D’Souza, central president of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R), visited the Bishop’s house in Mangaluru and paid their final respects by offering flowers to his portrait.

As soon as the news of the Pope’s death came in, the supreme pontiff of the Catholic Church, was received, special prayers were organised in all the churches across the Mangaluru Diocese.

As a mark of tribute, MLC Ivan D’Souza and Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R) central president Alwyn D’Souza visited the Bishop’s house and offered floral tribute to the portrait of Pope Francis.

Pope Francis served as the supreme head of the Roman Catholic Church for 12 years, spreading the message of peace across the globe. He was known for emphasising unity among the global Roman Catholic community and conveying that the world can be won through love and faith.

Today, the Bishop of the Mangalore Diocese, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, expressed his condolences and offered floral tribute to the portrait of Pope Francis at his residence.

On this occasion, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha was joined by Congress leaders Manuraj, Vikas Shetty, Siraj Bajpe, Yogesh Nayak, and Nisar Bajpe, along with Arun D’Souza, president of Catholic Sabha, City Varado.
