Mangaluru, Apr 17: The inaugural ceremony of 'YEN AURA 4.0', Annual Day 2024—held on April 16 at the Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management, YMK Auditorium, Kulur campus, was a grand celebration of academic excellence and cultural diversity. The event served as a tribute to the remarkable achievements of the institution and its students over the past year. The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolising the illumination of knowledge and wisdom.
The event was graced by the esteemed chief guests, Prof Sathyanarayan Reddy, vice chancellor of Srinivas University and Yathish N, IPS, superintendent of police whose distinguished presence brought great honor and prestige to the occasion. Dr MS Moosabba, Principal, Yenepoya Medical College, served as the guest of honor, further elevating the significance of the event. Dr Arun A Bhagwath, principal and dean, faculty of science was the president of this event. Sharing the dais were vice principals Prof Shareena P, Prof Jeevan Raj, and Narayan Sukumar A; cultural coordinators Lawren Castelino and Pooja Kottary; along with student president Vismaya, III BSc (microbiology), whose participation reflected the collaborative and inclusive ethos of the institution.










The programme commenced with a prayer by Saleeth, BA (communication and design), setting a serene tone for the day. Chaitra Shetty, ACOE, extended a warm and gracious welcome to the esteemed dignitaries. As a mark of respect and appreciation, Dr Arun A Bhagwath presented a memento to the chief guest, upholding the institution’s cherished tradition of hospitality. Adding a touch of floral elegance, Prof Shareena P warmly welcomed Yatheesh, IPS, while Prof. Jeevan Raj extended a similar floral greeting to Dr. M.S. Moosabba, infusing the occasion with warmth and reverence.
Dr Arun A Bhagwath, principal, presented the inspiring Annual Report for 2024–25, highlighting YIASCM’s rapid evolution into a hub of academic excellence, innovation, and industry integration since its inception in 2017. With over 6,000 students enrolled across 50+ programmes in diverse fields—ranging from management and science to commerce and the arts—YIASCM continues to emphasizese real-world learning, research, and holistic growth. Strong placements, global collaborations, and impactful community engagement reflect the institute’s unwavering commitment to nurturing future-ready leaders.
Chief guest Yathish N, IPS, superintendent of police, Dakshina Kannada delivered a thought-provoking and motivating address to the students, drawing from his personal experiences during his college years. He noted that many students often embark on academic journeys without a definitive purpose or clarity regarding their chosen field of study. However, he emphasized that what truly matters is the ability to discover one’s passion and to pursue it with consistency and determination. He further highlighted that academic degrees do not necessarily dictate future careers, as individuals frequently find success in domains unrelated to their formal education. He encouraged students to focus on personal growth rather than comparing themselves with others. He stressed the importance of curiosity and the courage to ask questions, even at the risk of being misunderstood, as these qualities foster a mindset of continuous learning. Concluding his address, Yathish N underscored that clarity of purpose, passion, and perseverance are essential for achieving success and making a meaningful impact in one’s chosen field.
Chief guest Prof Sathyanarayan Reddy delivered an insightful and inspiring address, offering valuable guidance to students as they navigate the challenges of an ever-evolving world. He began by highlighting the importance of cultivating a positive attitude as an essential tool for facing life’s adversities. Stressing the significance of continuous personal development, he emphasized the transformative power of reading, active listening, and nurturing a sense of humour. Prof Reddy encouraged students to aspire to become individuals of great character and purpose, urging them to strive not merely for success, but for true greatness. He addressed the profound impact of rapid technological advancements, noting that artificial intelligence and automation are poised to redefine traditional career landscapes. In this context, he underscored the growing importance of adaptability, creativity, and innovation. Moving beyond conventional academic practices, Prof Reddy advocated for a shift away from rote learning, encouraging students to focus on problem-solving, interdisciplinary collaboration, and sustainable thinking. He illustrated his message with examples of young innovators, inspiring students to think differently, take initiative early, and embrace change. Furthermore, he emphasized the relevance of empathy, storytelling, design thinking, and purpose-driven education in shaping future-ready individuals. Concluding his address, he reminded students not to merely chase success, but to strive to create significance and believe in the power and beauty of their dreams.
Guest of honour Dr M S Moosabba extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire team for their exemplary leadership and management skills. Reflecting on his long-standing association with the University, he traced its remarkable transformation from a dental college in 1992 to a prominent deemed-to-be university with multiple campuses and a large student body. He emphasized that students form the core strength of any educational institution and underscored the importance of being responsible, ambitious, and deeply committed to lifelong learning. He also shed light on the prevailing challenges within the Indian education system, including inadequate infrastructure, limited innovation, and the stark disparities between rural and urban educational opportunities. He encouraged students to move beyond mere technical knowledge and actively engage with broader social and ethical responsibilities. He stressed the need for students to become socially conscious individuals who use their education as a tool to foster meaningful and positive change, rather than focusing solely on political awareness. In closing, Dr Moosabba urged students to view education as a holistic journey—one that shapes not only their careers but also their role in building a just and equitable society.
As part of the celebrations, the chief guests and guest of honour were formally felicitated in recognition of their esteemed presence. In addition, outstanding students were honoured for their exemplary achievements in both academic and extracurricular domains. The occasion also marked the official launch of the YIASCM curriculum, adding further significance to the event. The programme was skilfully compered by Lauren Castelino, assistant professor, department of management. The vote of thanks was proposed by Pooja Kottary, lecturer, department of computer science. The formal inauguration was followed by a series of vibrant cultural performances, adding colour and enthusiasm to the celebrations.

Students took to the stage with infectious energy, dressed in vibrant, regionally inspired outfits that beautifully showcased India’s rich diversity. From graceful traditional dances to soul-stirring musical performances, each act was a testament to their creativity and enthusiasm. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the stage came alive with colors, rhythm, and spirit, making the event not just a display of talent, but a powerful expression of unity in diversity.
