Mangaluru, Aug 22: The NSS units of St Agnes College organized ‘Aatid Onji Dina’ celebration, a programme depicting the richness of Tulunadu culture.

At the beginning of the programme, the guests were traditionally welcomed.

The chief guest of the programme was Dr Ganesh Amin Sankamar, dean and head of department of Kannada, St Aloysius PU College.

The programme was also attended by Sr Dr M Jeswina AC, St Agnes College principal, Sr Carmel Rita, St Agnes Degree College administrator, NSS programme officers Helen Serrao, Derik Dias, Vinitha and Vidya Patali. The programme started with a prayer followed by lighting the lamp. Thereafter, the guests were traditionally welcomed with betel leaves and arecanut.

The chief guest congratulated and appreciated the NSS units of St Agnes College for organizing this traditional celebration of Tulunadu. He then enlightened the audience with a very informative and educative talk on the importance of AAtid Onji Dina celebration and its significance in our daily life.

Sr Dr M Jeswina AC also addressed the gathering and appreciated the NSS units for organizing the programme. This was followed by a traditional folk dance by the NSS volunteers.

After the NSS anthem, all the guests were served a delicious lunch comprising of many seasonal, traditional , nutritionally rich food items of Tulunadu prepared and brought by NSS volunteers. The dishes included patrode, halasinahannina gatti, arasina yele gatti, timare chutney, pundi gasi, uppad pachir and many more.
