Mangaluru, Aug 8: The department of Social Work organsied an informative discussion on 'Innovative Ideas to Spread Awareness on Controlling Larva Production and Prevent Dengue' on August 6 at Sanidya hall.
Gayathri Nayak, deputy commissioner (revenue), Mangalore City Corporation and Raghuveer, district youth co-ordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mangaluru addressed the students and initiated the discussion.
With the aim of combating Dengue disease and as per the advice of DC, Gayathri Nayak, deputy commissioner (revenue) MCC addressed students on Dengue and its transmission. She spoke on how to generate awareness among general public to prevent and control the production of larva in the district. During the discussion, she asked the students to give innovative ideas. Students came up with ideas like preparing short videos like memes to post on social medias, jingle to generate awareness, organizing an innovative event like ‘treasure hunt’ to find out larva in the campus etc.
Gayathri Nayak asked the students to make videos on their ideas and send to her. She also said that she can verify and officially post them on social media.
The Student Council members and Social Work students actively participated in the discussion and contributed their ideas to make Mangaluru city a Dengue free city.
