Karkala, Jul 31: A workshop titled ‘Knowledge on Wheels - Training on BS-IV Engine’ was held at Automotive Learning Factory of NMAMIT for the faculty members of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering Department on July 23 in association with Durga Motors-Ashok Leyland Authorized Dealers, Baikampady.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, principal, NMAMIT in the presence of Dr A N Parameswaran, director of Industry Institute Interaction NMAMIT, Dr Shashikantha Karinka, head of Mechanical Engineering Department and the participating faculty members.
The training programme encompassed the application of Mechatronics in the engine management system and engine emissions reduction. Apart from exposure to the various sensors, activators, pumps etc through presentation and hands-on session, the participants got a very good exposure to the new technologies on the reduction of Nitrogen Oxide emissions through AdBlue urea injection technology on one platform and the exhaust gas recirculation technologies on the other. In general, one of these technologies is normally adopted in different makes of Bharat Stage IV heavy commercial vehicles for reduction of Nitrogen Oxides emission. However, the combined feature may be adopted in Bharat Stage-VI emissions reduction technology.
