New Delhi, Apr 20: India made a strong start at the Asian U-15 Boxing Championship as two young pugilists registered commanding victories on the opening day, reaffirming the country’s growing strength at the grassroots level.
In the 43kg category, Hardik Dahiya clinched a dominant win over Kubanychbek Bolushov of Kyrgyzstan with a unanimous 5:0 verdict. Likewise, in the 46kg bout, Rudraksh Singh outclassed Mongolia’s Ibrakhim Maral, also securing a 5:0 victory.
These early wins come as a boost to India’s medal prospects and reflect the proactive efforts of the World Boxing-led Interim Committee, which stepped in to revive Indian boxing amid administrative uncertainty. The committee swiftly resolved the deadlock that had earlier threatened India’s participation and ensured that the athletes did not miss out on the crucial championship.
“The Interim Committee has upheld the values of the Boxing Federation of India by ensuring every athlete gets the support and opportunity to shine,” said a spokesperson. The committee has also undertaken key decisions to rebuild grassroots infrastructure and support long-term talent development.
With India back in the ring and making an impact, hopes are high for a strong showing in the days to come.
