Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat inaugurated at Kaup

Udupi, Aug 14: "The world should know the rich heritage of Karnataka consisting of the cultures of Tuluva, Byari and Konkani," said professor Dr U P Upadyaya of national poet Govinda Pai research centre.

He was speaking after inaugurating Alvas Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat, Kaup chapter and Alvas Cultural glory at Kaup Sri Hale Mariyamma Hall under the aegis of Alvas education trust, Moodbidri on Sunday, August 11.

Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake who was the chief guest, praised that the programme introduces cultures of other states to the audiences besides providing pleasant entertainment to them.

Dr M Mohan Alva, president of Alvas education trust who spoke after being felicitated, stressed the need of growth of our traditional values by uniting likeminded people.

The president of the trust, Manohar S Shetty, who spoke after presiding over the programme, suggested that the programmes such as Alva’s virasat be linked with local travel and tourism.

Former MLA of Kaup Lalaji R Mendon, JDS district president Devi Prasad Shetty, industrialist Suresh Shetty Gurme, Grama Panchayat president Usha T Shenoy, Danda theertha school convenor Dr Prabhakar Shetty, Mumbai Penasyula group convenor Satish R Shetty, Kaup Janardan Temple’s priest M Jayaram Hegde, Kaup Kalikamba Temple’s priest Shekhar Achaya and other dignitaries were present.

Rotary club president Balakrishna Acharya led the prayer.  Kaup unit secretary Dr B Yogish Shetty welcomed the gathering.  Unit advisor Vidyadhar Puranik thanked.  Nirmal Kumar conducted the programme.
