Mangaluru, Sep 12: 'Every child born into this world is a blessing, but the birth of a girl child is a blessing not only to her family but the society at large'. With this theme Girl Child Day was celebrated in St Ann's high school, Bolar by the students of std 9A.
The programme unfolded with an inspiring love offering service where in the students offered soaps, coconuts, grocery items to be shared to the Ashrams as a loving and kind gesture towards the needy. Mallika Suraj Bekal Annette, currently working in Amazon as a team manager operation in Hyderabad was the chief guest of the day's programme.
The programme commenced with a meaningful prayer service invoking God's blessings on girl child. Sawsan introduced and welcomed the chief guest and the gathering. It was followed by a gracious semi classical dance.
A humorous skit 'Laying a ghost' was performed by the boys of the class. A rhythmic dance was then performed to enhance the joy of the day. Importance of girl child was meaningfully put forth by Sweedle followed by the quiz. Boys then performed a spectacular dance. A tableau on the theme 'Women of Substance' captured the essence of the day.
The students then sung a melodious song carry your candle. The chief guest in her address encouraged and motivated students to be consistent and determined in the work they do due to which they can achieve success.
Headmistress Sr Ruby D’Souza AC in her speech reminded of our responsibility to respect girls and the importance of girl child in the family and society. Aysha Reeha compered the programme and Nadiya Banu rendered vote of thanks.
