Kundapur: MP Raghavendra submits request for wildlife protection unit to minister Bhupendra Yadav

Kundapur, Aug 11: Shivamogga Loksabha constituency MP B Y Raghavendra visited union minister of environment, forest and climate change Bhupendra Yadav and submitted a request to him to start a wildlife protection centre and Mookambika animal garden in the current Mookambika wildlife sanctuary.

“Mookambika sanctuary spread in an area of 370.37 square kilometres including Kundapur, Byndoor taluk and Hosanagar taluk of Shivamogga district is west coast semi tropical and tropical evergreen forest land. Several varieties of wild animals and birds can be found in the sanctuary. There are no facilities to protect the animals and birds injured during their tussles, accidents and friction between man and animals. Some of the wild animals are destroying crops and areca nut cultivation. Leopards are taking away pets. Therefore, a wild life protection unit and Mookambika animal garden should be started here soon,” requested the MP.

The MP also requested the minister to develop the mud road as a concrete road from Kattinahole to Kodachadri. “The proposal in this connection approved by Karnataka state wildlife board has been sent to the centre. It should be considered and approved on priority,” he stated in the request.
