Mangaluru, Oct 24: The IEEE Srinivas University student branch organized a national level webinar on ‘IEEE-Benefits to Research Community'.
Dr Ved Prakash Mishra, programme leader and associate professor of Computer Science and Engineering, IEEE student branch counselor of Amity University, Dubai, UAE was the resource person.
In his speech, he explained the different benefits an IEEE member receives. "IEEE is for the benefit of humanity. It is most essential for the research community. There are several technical societies under IEEE. One can make the best use of them by contacting experts in their specific area. IEEE is best known for its findability of research papers including highly-cited publications. More than 11000 downloads in an hour show the popularity of the papers published in IEEE. More than 24 Nobel prize winners are members of IEEE. This is the testimony to the importance of IEEE for researchers. IEEE provides many opportunities for publishing research papers. It has more than 160 journals, and more than 1,600 print and e-books and more than 1800 conferences are organized under IEEE,” he said.
He also explained the procedure for organizing an IEEE conference and the various financial aids provided by the IEEE for different projects.
Dr A Jayanthila Devi, professor, CCIS and director, Industry Relations and International Research Collaborations, branch advisor of IEEE SU SB introduced the resource person to the participants. Rajeshwari M, chair, programme committee of IEEE SU SB welcomed the guests and the participants.
Dr Krishna Prasad K, counselor of IEEE SU SB guided the proceedings of the webinar. The programme was compered by Geetha Poornima K, secretary of IEEE SU. Vinayachandra, chair of the IEEE Srinivas University student branch proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme was attended by approximately 50 participants, including members of the Srinivas University student branch, College of Computer Science and Information Science Research Scholars.
