Mangaluru, Sep 29: The blessing and inauguration of labs with state of the art new computers were organized on September 29 at St Aloysius Institute of Management and IT at Beeri campus.
Two hundred new computers were procured through the help of donors Prem Watsa and Michael D’Souza.
Watsa is known as the 'Warren Buffet of the North'. He manages a financial investment company FAIRFAX in Canada. Michael D’Souza is a philanthropist and generous donor of the college.
The computer laboratory was inaugurated by the chief guests of the day Stephen Pinto, coordinator, Educare Trust; and Arjun Mascarenhas, a social worker. Soon after the inauguration, the laboratory was blessed by the new rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Melwin Pinto SJ.
Fr Praveen Martis, principal of St Aloysius College, in his address said that there is value in giving. “We are happy to receive always, but there are many who make giving as their life’s mission to be generous. Prem Watsa and Michael D’Souza fall in that category.”
In his address, Stephen Pinto said that Educare Trust is always ready to support various ventures of St Aloysius Institutions.
Fr Melwin Pinto SJ spoke about giving and receiving. He said, "We must be open to giving and reaching out to people in these tough times. People like Prem Watsa and Michael D’Souza are giving because they have received much at different phases of their life. It is their way of giving back to society.”
Director of AIMIT, Dr (Fr) Melwyn Pinto welcomed the gathering.
