Unlock day 26: DK corona tally crosses 1,000-mark, one death; Udupi reports 16 cases on Jul 3

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 3: On the 26th day of easing lockdown, Dakshina Kannada on Friday, July 3, reported 97 new cases and a death. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 16 fresh cases.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 47,714 people have been screened so far, including 131 on Friday.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 14,710 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 13,408 have turned out negative, and 1,020 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 498 are currently active. As many as 503 persons have recovered and been discharged including 26 on Friday, and 19 deaths have occurred so far including one on Friday.

As many as 26 patients, 14 males and 12 females including one child, were discharged from Wenlock on Friday.

Five patients, three males and two females, are serious and being treated in the ICU.

As many as 280 samples were sent for testing on Friday. Reports of 425 samples were received on Friday, out of which 97 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 427 samples are awaited.

Of the 97 who tested positive on Friday, 69 are males and 28 females, including 5 children. Among the 97 new patients, 3 have returned from Saudi Arabia and Dubai, 28 are diagnosed with influenza-like illness (ILI) and 25 were primary contacts of earlier patients. Contact tracing process of 41 patients is on.

The district recorded one death on Friday. The victim was a 49-year-old man, resident of Madikeri. He passed away at Wenlock, the district COVID hospital.

A total of 97 persons have been admitted for observation.

Altogether, 7,208 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 30 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.

Udupi

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,866 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 5 on Friday, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1,034 persons are currently under home quarantine.

A total of 92 people are in isolation wards, including 18 fresh admissions on Friday. Among them, two are coronavirus suspects, eight each have SARI and influenza-like illness.

As many as 1,061 people, including 14 on Friday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 16,498 samples have been collected so far, including 868 on Friday, out of which 25 are COVID contacts and one is COVID suspect. Out of them, 13,823 samples have turned out to be negative, including 273 on Friday, and 1,417 reports are awaited.

As many as 1,258 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 16 on Friday. As many as 1,104 patients have been discharged so far including 14 on Friday, and 151 cases are currently active. Three deaths have occurred so. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.

As many as 16 new cases were reported in the district on Friday. Among them 8 each are males and females of which one each have come from Mangaluru and Bengaluru, four are Maharashtra returnees, and five are primary contacts of earlier patients. Contact tracing process of five patients is on. Treatment of four patients is being done in the ICU.

    Without lockdown this cant be controlled. Wat for this govt waiting for? Wen there was 2 or 3 cases in DK there was lockdown, now going to hit century, still govt thinking.. wat a logic.
