Mangaluru: 'Veer Savarkar flyover' banner appears at Pumpwell, with Bajrang Dal graffiti

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (AM)

Mangaluru, Jun 2: Even as the controversy surrounding Yelahanka flyover in Bengaluru and its naming after freedom fighter Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar appeared to be fading, unknown miscreants took over to Pumpwell flyover in Mangaluru and installed a banner on its sidewalls reading ‘Veer Savarkar Flyover Pumpwell’.

The incident took place late evening on Tuesday, June 2.

A graffiti had ‘Bajrang Dal’ scrawled across the sidewalls of the flyover right next to the place where the banner was put up.

It may be recalled, Yelahanka flyover in Bengaluru was to be inaugurated last week. While Karnataka opposition leaders came out against naming it after Hindutva icon Veer Savarkar, many had taken to social media to express their intention to place the photograph of Savarkar on the flyover and christen the flyover after him. Later, the words, 'Freedom fighter Veer Savarkar Flyover' were seen to have been written over the flyover in Kannada.

He was detained by British for his activities for India freedom. He was given harshest punishment by British shows how severe his fight against British was.

The above explanation should be sufficient to understand that he is more notorious freedom fighter than MK Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.

He had no political ambition like Nehru to become a politician shows his intent is clean.

By all means go ahead and officially name it Savarkar Flyover. The quality of work is rubbish- large visible cracks across its width within a few weeks of opening.
Shoddy planning, even worse implementation . Delays galore, substandard and hurried execution . I wouldn’t be surprised if a part of it collapses this monsoon.
Do any of my BJP friends still want to call it Savarkar Flyover??

Whoever written this are making up thier living or for their political leaders by selling same old rotten tomatoes.

We Millennials generation is already moved on. Especially the current the Z generation don't give damn about anything to history that doesn't have credibility and scientific evidence.

We hardly able to recall about our late grandfather and great grandfather even when we inherited fortunes from them. Their photos are long gone from our home walls.

Grow up guys don't be so dumb! And don't make us embarrassed infront of the world. I thought we mangalorean folks well educated and literate.
