Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 2: On the 70th day of the lockdown, 150 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Udupi on Tuesday June 2. No cases were detected in Dakshina Kannada and 13 people were discharged today.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 42,680 people have been screened so far, including 64 on Tuesday. One person is currently quarantined in ESI hospital. Ten people were discharged from ESI on Tuesday.
A total of 9,046 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 8,779 have tested negative, and 137 positive, excluding 10 persons from another district. Out of these, 61 are currently active. As many as 69 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.
Thirteen people including six males and seven females who had cured were discharged on Tuesday.
As many as 50 samples were sent for testing on Tuesday. Reports of 113 samples were received on Tuesday, which were all negative.
Reports of 80 samples are awaited. As many as 23 persons have been admitted for observation.
A total of 4,659 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Tuesday, two cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
Udupi
As many as 150 cases were reported in the district on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, minister Ashoka had said that 210 cases were detected in the day, but the state bulletin clarified it to be 150.
All 150 have come from Maharashtra. As many as 120 males and 30 females including nine children below the age of 10, and three people above the age of 60, have been tested positive.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha informed that just in last two days more than 2,000 tests were conducted. “Earlier, only 200 to 300 tests were conducted. Nearly 10 per cent of Maharashtra returnees have tested positive now. As many as 1,120 beds are ready to accommodate corona-positive patients. We have used only 410 beds. So nearly 800 beds are still vacant. Those tested negative after seven days are being discharged,” he said.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,111 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 116 on Tuesday, and a total of 4,800 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 24 on Tuesday. As many as 58 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, seven high-risk persons and 41 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 70 people are in isolation wards, including 13 fresh admissions on Tuesday. Among them, four are coronavirus suspects, while three have SARI and six influenza-like illness.
As many as 725 people, including six on Tuesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 12,511 samples have been collected so far, including seven on Tuesday. Out of them, 6,255 samples have turned out to be negative, including 627 on Tuesday, and 5,846 reports are awaited. As many as 410 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 150 on Tuesday. Sixty-four among them have been discharged, and 345 are active. One death has occurred so far.
