Bengaluru, May 29: Chief minister (CM), B S Yediyurappa, who is busy handling the issues relating to coronavirus and revenue deficit, is under compulsion to handle a new problem now. This situation has arisen in view of the fact that senior BJP firebrand leader and Vijayapura MLA, Basangouda Patil Yatnal, presided over a meeting of over 10 BJP MLAs in an apartment in the city.
It is learnt that the meeting discussed the functioning style of the BJP government under Yediyurappa. Reportedly, some of the participants expressed unhappiness at the way the CM has been managing things. The leaders came up with complaints like whenever they approach the CM to discuss issues of their constituencies like grants, transfers, and other issues, he asks them to meet someone else. The person he suggests is neither an official nor a legislator or MP. The aggrieved MLAs wonder why they have to meet a person who has no official standing. These leaders, it is said, have decided to meet the party high command and apprise the leaders about the things going on here.
A legislator from the party concurred that some of the legislators from Belagavi and Kalaburagi districts including senior leaders and ministerial aspirants Umesh Katti and Siddu Savadi had held a meeting. The disgruntled MLAs had planned to hold a meeting during the assembly session in March but by then the session was cut short because of coronavirus pandemic. They remained stranded in their constituencies till now, and came together in the guise of lockdown relaxation and meetings of assembly committees, it is being analyzed.
These legislators want four among the vacant six slots of ministers to be filled immediately. They also demand that the problems relating to constituencies should be given patient hearing and issues should be resolved by the CM and ministers. They also want the government to be rid of external influences.
