Lockdown day 29: No new cases reported in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 22: No coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi on Wednesday, April 22.

As of April 22, a total of 39,290 people have been screened in the district, out of who four are currently under home quarantine. Forty-nine people have been quarantined at NITK Surathkal. Ten have been quarantined in ESI hospital. A total of 6,069 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.

A total of 1,520 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 1,009 have tested negative and 16 positive. Three cases are currently active, and 12 have been discharged. One death has been reported. 

As many as 151 samples were sent on April 22. Eighty-five tested negative. Reports of 495 samples are awaited.

Eleven persons are admitted for observation.As many as 941 patients have been treated at Fever Clinics.

As many as 12 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) today out of which one case has been reported to Wenlock hospital.

In Udupi, a total of 1,892 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, with 29 of them completing the period on April 22. A total of 2,325 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 65 persons on April 22.

As many as 697 persons are presently under home quarantine. As many 11 people were admitted to isolation wards on April 22. Altogether, 52 are in isolation wards. A total of 254 persons have been discharged from the isolation wards, including four on Wednesday.

As many as 993 samples have been collected so far in the district. On Wednesday, 13 samples were collected and sent for testing.

Reports of one sample was received on Wednesday, which was negative.

Altogether, Udupi district has recorded three coronavirus positive cases who have now recovered and are discharged.

    The lock down measures are only to defer ..the spread ..so that the health machinery is not overburdened.

    Screening of asymptomatic carriers is misleading and up to 80% infected are asymptomatic it is a ticking time bomb waiting for lockdown to end. Hope summer helps.
