Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 21: One person tested positive for coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada (DK) on Tuesday, April 21. No cases were reported in Udupi.
The lone person to be tested positive in Dakshina Kannada is a 67-year-old woman from Bantwal. She was suffering from respiratory issues and was admitted to Wenlock hospital on April 18. Her swab sample was taken and sent for tests. The result was positive. She is suspected to have contracted the infection from the 42-year-old patient who passed away due to coronavirus on April 19 in Bantwal.
As of April 21, a total of 39,246 people have been screened in the district, out of who 31 are currently under home quarantine. Thirty-nine people have been quarantined at NITK Surathkal. Ten have been quarantined in ESI hospital. A total of 6,042 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 1,369 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 924 have tested negative and 16 positive. Three cases are currently active, and 12 have been discharged. One death has been reported.
As many as 83 samples were sent on April 21. Results of 48 samples were received out of which 47 tested negative and one tested positive. Reports of 429 samples are awaited.
Twenty-one people are admitted for observation.
In Udupi, a total of 1,863 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, with 22 of them completing the period on April 21. A total of 2,260 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 53 persons on April 21.
As many as 682 persons are presently under home quarantine. As many 16 people were admitted to isolation wards on April 21. Altogether, 45 are in isolation wards. A total of 250 persons have been discharged from the isolation wards, including four on Tuesday.
As many as 980 samples have been collected so far, including 61 from people who were in contact with coronavirus suspects. On Tuesday, 76 samples were collected and sent for testing.
Reports of two samples were received on Tuesday, and both tested negative.
Udupi district had recorded three coronavirus positive cases who have now recovered and are discharged.
