Udupi: First corona test report of Bhatkal pregnant woman turns out negative

Udupi, Apr 21: The health condition of a pregnant woman from Bhatkal, who was diagnosed with coronavirus infection, and who is being treated at the Dr T M A Pai Hospital here has been showing improvement. Her first throat swab test has proved to be negative. Her second sample will be sent to the laboratory soon, said district health officer Dr Sudhir Chandra.

If the second report is also negative, she will be discharged from the hospital.

On Monday, samples of 10 people were collected. Out of them, three have been suffering from intensive breathing problems. Three had come in contact with infected people and four are suffering from flu and fever. So far, samples from 904 persons were collected, he said.

All the 81 reports received on Monday were negative. Over 24 reports are yet to be received.

Currently, 649 people are under quarantine. On Monday, 102 have registered their names. Around 16 have completed 28 days quarantine period while 45 have completed 14 days. Four were admitted into hospital quarantine and five in an isolation ward. The total number of people in quarantine at the hospital is 39 while 33 are in isolation wards. He also informed that 29 have been released from isolation wards. Further, he added that three people who were cured of coronavirus infection, and who were discharged from hospitals, are currently in-home quarantine.
