Lockdown day 21: No new coronavirus cases in twin districts, two more discharged

Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 14: Both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts reported no fresh coronavirus-positive cases on Tuesday, April 14. No coronavirus-positive cases have been reported from 10 days now. One patient each from Mangaluru and Udupi were discharged today.

One patient was discharged from Mangaluru. The 49-year-old had arrived from Dubai on March 21 to Puttur. He was tested positive on April 1 and admitted to Wenlock hospital. His test reports came negative on April 12 and 13 and was hence discharged today.

Another one was discharged from TMA Pai Hospital on Tuesday in Udupi. The patient from Manipura was advised 14 days of home quarantine.

As per statistics, in Dakshina Kannada, a total of 38,958 persons have been screened so far, out of whom 1,485 are currently under home quarantine.

No patient has been quarantined in Wenlock hospital, while 24 have been quarantined in ESI hospital.

As many as 4,588 persons have completed 28 days of home quarantine, with no symptoms reported.

Out of the 636 samples sent so far, 456 have tested negative, and a total of 12 tested positive, out of which three are currently active, and nine have been discharged.

On Tuesday, reports of 12 samples were received, all of which were negative. Another 156 samples have been sent to the lab in Wenlock hospital on Tuesday.

Reports of 168 samples are awaited. Twenty-one persons are currently admitted for observation.

In Udupi, as on April 14, a total of 1,222 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, with 105 completing the period on April 14. Another 1,974 people have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 23 on April 14.

As many as 101 people are currently under home quarantine, and 36 are in quarantine in hospital. Seventeen people were placed under hospital quarantine on Tuesday.

As many as 19 patients were discharged from hospital on Tuesday, having fully recovered from coronavirus.

A total of 194 have been discharged from the wards, including eight of them on Tuesday.

A total of 537 samples have been collected, with 108 fresh ones on Tuesday alone. Among them, 105 are of those who came into contact with coronavirus suspects and persons who tested positive.

Out of the samples tested so far, 409 have tested negative. Reports of 39 samples received on Tuesday also turned out negative. Reports of another 125 samples are awaited.

Udupi district has so far reported three coronavirus-positive cases, among whom two were discharged from hospital on April 11 and 14. 

Kasargod

Eight people tested positive on Tuesday in Kerala including one in Kasargod. The total count in the district has reached 167 now. As many as 75 patients have recovered and 91 are still active.
