Bengaluru, Apr 13: The health and home departments have trifurcated Karnataka into red zone, orange zone and green zone as per the central government guidelines for facilitating to closely monitor coronavirus cases. Districts having large number of cases fall under the red zone, those with medium number of cases fall under the orange zone, while districts with no reported coronavirus cases fall under green zone.
As per the groups allotted, 11 of the districts in the state have been listed under red zone, eight in orange zone and 10 under green zone.
Bengaluru (76 cases), Mysuru (48), Chikkaballapur (9), Dakshina Kannada (12), Bidar (11), Uttara Kannada (9), Bagalkot (8), Kalaburagi (13), Belagavi (14), Vijayapura (6) and Ballari (6) districts have been brought under the red zone. Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Chikkaballapur, Bidar, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada have also been grouped under the hot spots with high number of reported cases released by the central government.
Mandya (5), Bengaluru rural (4), Davanagere (3), Udupi (3), Kodagu (1), Dharwad (2), Tumakuru (1), and Gadag (1) are under orange zone. These districts can witness a sudden spurt in the number of cases and therefore, health officials said, close vigil will continue.
The districts under green zone are Shivamogga, Yadagiri, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chitradurga, Koppal, Haveri, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Raichur where not even a single coronavirus case has been confirmed till now. Still, Shivamogga with eight suspected cases, Yadagiri withi eight, Ramanagara with 10, Kolar with five, Chitradurga with one , Koppal with one, Kaveri with two, Hassan with five, Chamarajanagar (0), and Raichur (0) have been kept under observation. Till the quarantine period is completed and report in all cases are proved negative, these districts cannot be officially grouped as green zone. Therefore, people of these districts should exercise caution, the officials said.
