Mangalore diocese initiates 'Lock and Rock' online competitions for children

Mangaluru, Apr 12: Under the patronage of the diocese of Mangaluru, the CODP, YCS and Codialbail Press are jointly organising 'Lock and Rock', a diocesan-level mega series of competitions for students from Std 1 to PUC in the diocese.

The competitions will be held online so that children can participate from home. These competitions aim at keeping the children positively occupied and creatively involved during the lockdown period so that they grow spiritually and mentally.

The series begins from Sunday April 12, Easter day, and will go on for four weeks till May 10. Every week three tasks namely quiz, inspiring Bible sentence (audio) and video challange will be given. Information related to the competitions, rules and regulations, weekly winners, weekly new tasks etc will be uploaded every Sunday in the diocesan website www.dioceseofmangalore.com . Other social media will also be used to communicate the information.

Other than the weekly prizes in each event, there will be bumper prizes at the end of the fourth week for the winners and those who participate in the whole series without fail.

The competition series is open to all Catholic children residing in the diocese of Mangaluru and elsewhere/abroad. The language of communication will be Konkani and English. Each week different themes will be taken up, such as faith, environment, Konkani culture and general knowledge.

The organizing committee consists of Fr Rupesh Madtha, Fr Vishal Monis, Fr Kenneth Crasta, Preetham D'Souza and Prajwal Sequeira. A large number of participants are expected to take part.

    Good initiatives. Keep it up.
    Due to lockdown all children are at home. As per govt records from last 11 days child help received 92000 call about child abuse.
    I request do something create awareness about the violence against the children.

    A very Noble initiative from the diocese. The children are the most vulnerable victims during this period. On the first week itself saw some children playing carrumboard. We are not too late to start with something for them. May God bless our children.
